Warren Muench

Warren joined STC in 1986 and has been an officer in both the Intermountain Chapter (1987-89) and the Palm Beaches Chapter (1989-present). In the Intermountain Chapter, he was treasurer, membership manager, and newsletter co-editor. In the Palm Beaches Chapter, he has continuously served as treasurer since 1989, as well as occasional stints as membership manager.  In 1995, he received the Distinguished Chapter Service Award.  Warren also volunteered for five years as a judge in the Florida technical writing competition besides being the happy recipient of several publications competition awards at both the state and international levels.

Warren is currently working as a staff content developer for Motorola in Sunrise, FL.  He also worked for four years as a contract technical writer for Motorola’s iDEN business unit and, before that, was employed as a senior technical writer by Sensormatic Electronics Corporation and IBM Corporation.

While technical writing is his current profession, he has enjoyed other pursuits throughout his life.  Starting with a 21-year military career in electronics, cryptography, intelligence, and security, Warren moved to teaching photography for several years at the university level, and then dabbled in cartography (his first love) before delving, fulltime, into technical writing and editing.  His other interests include volunteer work, Boy Scouting, leadership and management training, and keeping up with the ever-changing fields of computer technology, geographic information systems (GIS), and the Global Positioning System (GPS). He has a bachelor’s degree in geography (cartography), as well as a degree in electronic engineering technology.
